The Telecommunications (Registration of SIM Cards) Regulation (The ‘Regulation’) took effect on September 1, 2021 in respect of the Real-name Registration Programme for Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) Cards (“Real-name Registration Programme”).

To complete the registration, customers must provide the information required under the Regulation including but not limited to the following:


Individual Customers: You are required to provide your name in Chinese (if applicable) and English, Date of Birth, Copy Identification Document (Hong Kong Identity Card or other acceptable identification document)

Corporate Customers: You are required to provide Company Name, Responsible Persons’ Chinese Name (if applicable), English Name, Date of Birth, Copy Identification Document, Copy Business Registration Certificate

You will receive a SMS confirmation upon successful registration of the prepaid SIM services.

Individual users can register up to 10 SIM cards, while corporate users can register up to 25 SIM cards with each local telecommunications service provider.

“iAM Smart” is supported to use for identity authentication to complete Real-name Registration.
